St. Catharines 9/11 Walkway (Ontario)
Type of Memorial: Tree Planted for Each Victim
Address: 2 Northrup Cres. St Catharines
City: Ontario
Country: Canada
Description: In recognition of the 27 Canadian citizens that were killed in the September 2001 attacks, at the World Trade Center, a memorial pathway has been created at Happy Rolph’s Bird Sanctuary.
The victims have been remembered with the planting of 27 varieties of deciduous trees along the pathway. Each tree is marked with a plaque dedicated to a specific person and outlines where and when that person was born, how old they were and where they were during the attacks.
There are also several benches placed along the walkway to allow visitors a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery while reflecting back.
