Biography:
Peter Edward Mardikian of Armenian American descent was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on August 27, 1972 to Alexander and Shakeh (Jackie) Mardikian. His sister Monica Mardikian was born in 1975. Peter lived in Kalamazoo until the age of 13. In 1985, the family relocated to Syracuse, New York where Peter attended Eagle Hill Middle School and Fayetteville-Manlius High School. In his senior year, the family relocated to West Windsor, New Jersey where Peter graduated from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School in 1991.
Peter attended the Ohio State University, Max M. Fisher College of Business in Columbus, Ohio, where he majored in Marketing. In December 1995, Peter graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. While at Ohio State University, Peter was a Member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity for four years and served as Vice-President for one year. During Peter’s first year at Ohio State University, he met his future wife, Corine Beskid.
Upon graduation, Peter moved to New York City to live out his life long dream of becoming a businessman and working in the financial district. In 1996, he started working at Paine Webber, Inc. as a Trade Support Analyst for Fixed Income Trading. While at Paine Webber, Peter obtained his Series 7 and Series 63 licenses. In 1997, he joined Imagine Software Inc., a derivatives trading software company, as a Derivatives Analyst and was promoted to Client Training Analyst. In 1999, Peter became Marketing Representative and was later promoted to Sales and Marketing Manager. As Sales and Marketing Manager, he interacted with Risk Managers, Information Technology Managers and Heads of Equity Trading Desks on a national and international basis, and frequently traveled to Europe, Australia and the Far East. In recent years, Peter was a guest lecturer on Risk Management at the graduate program in Business Administration at New York University. He was a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
The happiest time of Peter’s life came on July 20th, 2001, when he married Cori, his college sweetheart of 10 years. On September 11, 2001, Peter was to present at a technology and financial trade show called Risk Waters Group’s Financial Technology Congress at the Windows of the World, the 106th floor of the World Trade Center.
Peter will always be remembered as a happy, energetic, kind, warm and fun loving person. He was a successful, hard working businessman, and most of all, a family man. He had an uncanny ability to make people laugh and smile. Peter lived his life to the fullest and always had a positive outlook on life. He was full of confidence and had a charismatic and charming personality. Peter will forever be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
