How We Remember Exhibit
Throughout the month of March, VOICES honored the lives of those who died, those who survived, and those who came to their rescue through a 9/11 Living Memorial Exhibit, which was held at the New Brunswick, NJ Free Public Library. The exhibit, entitled “September 11th: How We Remember” commenced with opening ceremonies on March 6th which included an interactive discussion between members of the 9/11 community and members of the New Brunswick community.
Jessica Cruz, sister of Danny Correa-Gutierrez, Victor Guarnera, a Survivor and Richard Skinner, a Rescue Worker shared their personal experiences. The opening included children’s art projects promoting community and resiliency. The September 11 Memorial Quilt, pictured above-right, was decorated by children at the event and later assembled by local residents Bob Van Orden and Mary Boychuk. The quilt was presented to the local community at the March 27th closing ceremonies and is currently on display at the VOICES New Brunswick office.
