In 2006 VOICES launched the 9/11 Living Memorial digital archive project to honor those who were lost, those who survived, and those who came to the rescue on September 11, 2001. VOICES' trained social workers have worked one-on-one with over 1,600 family members, collecting more than 70,000 items, including photographs and mementoes. In the 9/11 Living Memorial, these collections create personalized tributes of those lost on 9/11. The archive also includes personal accounts from survivors and rescue workers, narratives from organizations and corporations directly affected by 9/11, an interactive directory of 9/11 memorials, and a guest book to share thoughts and memories.
In constructing the 9/11 Living Memorial digital archive, VOICES provides solace to family members, preserves a momentous event in a unique and detailed manner, and educates future generations on the facts and personal recollections of the September 11th attacks. Unlike other commemorative memorials, the 9/11 Living Memorial project uses digital technology to provide intimate and fresh first hand accounts. Upon completion, the 9/11 Living Memorial will be a core component of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center site.
The 9/11 Living Memorial project was originally inspired by a concept conceived by September's Mission and its founder, Monica Iken.

VOICES has made important contributions to public policy by advocating for the establishment of the independent, bipartisan 9/11 Commission and passage of the Collins-Lieberman Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, the H.R. 1: Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007, and the Zadroga Bill of 2011.
In addition, Ms. Fetchet personally testified on 9/11 issues before the 9/11 Commission of 2003, the U.S. Senate's Governmental Affairs Committee in 2004, and the House Subcommittee on National Security, Emerging Threats and International Relations in 2006, among other agencies and organizations. VOICES continues to support implementation of the 9/11 Commission's recommendations for government reform.
VOICES promotes public policy to promote improved local and national preparedness and government reforms to improve homeland security. Ms. Fetchet is a sought after speaker for forums and summits related to homeland security and 9/11 family issues.
