Voices Newsletter

May 11, 2012

Dear Families and Friends,

This Sunday marks Mother's Day, a day to remember our mothers and reflect on the important role mothers play in shaping the lives of children. This is always an emotional time for those who have lost their mothers, children who have lost parents and parents who have lost children. Hopefully, the support of your friends and family will carry you through this challenging time.

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month and VOICES is once again offering screenings for depression and anxiety. To participate in a screening, call Sheri or Suzanne in our New Brunswick office at 732-543-2300. Also, in May Voices will begin a four part series on diary writing in conjunction with the Anne Frank Center in New York City. Participants will experience the quiet internal healing that occurs with writing. As Anne Frank found, her diary was "a great sense of comfort and support." Contact Michelle at 203-966-3911 to register.

June is always a month of celebrations - graduations, weddings, and family gatherings. All of us at VOICES will have much to celebrate in the month of June. VOICES staff and the gala committee are engaged in planning another wonderful gala celebration to be held on June 20th at Pier 60 in New York City. We are particularly excited to tell you that the Always Remember Commemorative Book is now at the printer and we plan to mail it to family members the first week of June.

We are always happy to forward news to our members about upcoming events of particular interest to the 9/11 community. Please let us know if there is an event you would like to share with our membership.

Warm Regards
